HIRANYAKASHIPU
King Hiranyakashipu forbade his son to worship the god Vishnu and threw him into a bonfire along with his aunt Holika, who was immune to the fire and wanted the young man’s death.
the history of the holiday
LEGEND
The name of the holiday was given in honor of the demoness, the sister of the strict and evil king Hiranyakashipu. The ruler gained the opportunity to live forever and therefore began to consider himself a god, and after that he forced everyone to worship only him.
HOLIKA
It turned out to be quite the opposite— his sister burned down, and Prahlada was saved by the god Vishnu and came out of the bonfire unharmed. Since then, the burning of Holika has been celebrated as a Holi holiday— saving lives
The sister of the king— Holika— decided to kill her nephew, who did not believe in his father. To do this, she told Prahlada to ascend to the bonfire, thus paying tribute to the god Vishnu. Everyone believed that the demoness did not "burn in" fire.

the importance of the celebration
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE
The celebration of various legends, borders with Holi, convinces people of the power of truth, since the moral of all these legends is the final victory of good over evil.
The legend of  Hiranyakashyapa and  Prahlada also points to the fact that extreme devotion to the god pays off, as the god always takes his true devotee to his abode.
Holi helps to unite society and strengthen the secular side of India. For the festival is also celebrated by non-Hindus.
Also on this day, people do not make transfers between rich and poor, and all together celebrate the holiday in the spirit of friendliness and brotherhood.
SOCIAL SIGNIFICANCE
BIOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE
The day after the burning of Holika, people applied ashes (vibhuti) to their foreheads, swirled chandan (sandalwood paste) with young leaves and flowers of the mango tree, and consumed it to promote health.
Playing with colors helps promote health as colors are believed to have a great impact on our body and our health.
